Hi everybody,
I just installed a slash cut Jardine slip-on exhaust. The installation was a snap- no problems at all. Everything lined up and the exhaust slipped right on. No carburator re-jetting is required. My carb is stock (still have the white spacer).
The results? FANTASTIC! Now my Savage sounds like a real motorcycle. That "hammer of a motor" (to use Bert's phrase) is music to my ears. I rode her about 150 miles today and I didn't notice any difference at all in how she runs, only how she sounds. I still have no backfires (over 2,000 miles and only 2 so far).
The only difference is when I turn her off, her "fart" is now a bit louder "pop." Although it's probably too soon to tell, I haven't noticed any blueing or pipe discoloration thus far.
For anyone looking to improve the sound of their Savage with minimum effort and no hassles, the Jardine is the way to go. And it's cheaper than the Supertrapp.
Ride safe,
Bob A.
